In this report, EatSafe presents the results of Phase I targeted formative research specific to Ethiopia, which produced 10 relevant reports, covering primary qualitative and quantitative studies, secondary research, and stakeholder engagements. Ethnographic research, semi-structured interviews, and survey questionnaires elucidated consumers’ and vendors’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to food safety. EatSafe also developed a deep understanding of the enabling environment for food safety. EatSafe interventions operate in the Aroge Gebeya, a traditional food market located in Hawassa City, which is in Sidama region (southwest) of Ethiopia.
