Dr. Rawshan Zahan Akhter Alo is a dedicated public health leader with over two decades of experience strengthening Bangladesh’s health system. She currently serves as Deputy Director at the Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) and is well known for her expertise in nutritional epidemiology, including her role as Principal Investigator of the Prevalence of Vitamin D Deficiency Study. At IPHN, she leads evidence-based nutritional policy initiatives to address malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies.
Her career bridges policy and practice. At the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), she worked in Communicable Disease Control and Administration, managing complex health programs, and as a Frontier FETP Fellow, supported nationwide disease surveillance and outbreak response.
With 12 years of Upazila-level clinical service, Dr. Alo brings community insight to national leadership. As a Leadership Trainer, she collaborates with IEDCR and CDC, Bangladesh. Holding an MBBS, she is a Senior BCS (Health Cadre) professional, a Frontier FETP Fellow, specializing in Nutrition and Epidemiology.
