GAIN staff are dedicated professionals who share a vision of a world without malnutrition. Drawn from over 35 countries, GAIN staff work together to improve the food system and make it work better for the world’s most vulnerable people.

At GAIN, we share six core values: passion, voice, innovation, integrity, teamwork, and humility. Our core values define what is important to us and guide the way we conduct business.

We support our staff with a Code of Conduct and policies that address issues including gender, equality and diversity, as well as anti-bullying and harassment. We care about workplace well-being and we invest in professional development. We learn from each other in regular all-staff meetings and other events; and we listen to their concerns and suggestions in our regular staff engagement survey.

GAIN has a global staff handbook setting out the common conditions for all staff, and there are handbooks for each location setting out local conditions where these differ.

We have a job classification system that helps ensure we have consistent expectations of jobs in each location. We have a reward policy that seeks to achieve fairness, equity and consistency; to be competitive for talent; to be ethical; and to be sustainable. When we set salaries, we take account of local market conditions and changes in the cost of living. As part of our reward package, in addition to a competitive base salary, we offer a number of comprehensive staff benefits to ensure that employees feel valued and are recognised for their contribution to GAIN’s success and to our vision of a world without malnutrition. We have an annual appraisal process designed to support setting and achieving individual objectives and identifying professional development.
