Impact assessment of the oil and wheat flour fortification program in Côte d’Ivoire

This report summarises the findings of the end-line survey to assess the impact of the oil and wheat flour fortification programmes in Côte d’Ivoire conducted in households in three communes in Abidjan and the rural area of Bouaflé in October 2010.

The survey objectives were to:

  1. estimate the differences in vitamin A status of pre-school children and women of reproductive age living in households consuming fortified oil and flour relative to those living in households consuming unfortified vegetable oil and flour in two areas in Côte d’Ivoire (Bouaflé and Abidjan), and
  2. estimate the iron status of pre-school children and women of reproductive age, and folate status of women of reproductive age in two areas in Côte d’Ivoire (Bouaflé and Abidjan) after three years of fortification.
