A market assessment was conducted in Mozambique in 2015 across eight market hubs strategically selected in different regions of the country. The assessment sought to:
- identify availability of brands of oil, wheat flour and sugar in various provinces and retail outlets,
- understand the supply chain of available brands of industrially processed oil, wheat flour, maize flour and sugar,
- determine vitamin A content of locally produced oil and iron in locally produced wheat flour sold in different provinces,
- determine a feasible potential sampling plan and handling procedures for collection of food samples for market inspection in Mozambique.
These results help propose a plan for effective monitoring of fortified foods on the market.
