The Italian Ministry of Health and the City of Milan, will host The Global Nutrition Summit 2017 a high-level event in Milan, Italy on November 4, on nutrition and food for healthier futures.

The Global Nutrition Summit will take stock of commitments made to date, celebrate progress toward global goals on nutrition, and announce new commitments to accelerate the global response to malnutrition. The event is open to governments, civil society, multilateral agencies, private foundations and companies.

The summit will also be the platform for the launch of the 2017 Global Nutrition Report.

The event is being held in collaboration and close partnership with a number of international stakeholders including the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the International Coalition on Advocacy for Nutrition (ICAN).

Lawrence Haddad, GAIN’s Executive Director, will moderate the thematic panel discussion on 'The Future We Want: Transforming our food systems for improved nutrition'. The objective of the sessions are:

  2. to evidence new momentum and promising models for commitment and actions by governments and businesses in support of nutrition-smart food systems;
  3. to highlight opportunities for further action amongst all actors on the food system.
