Tarun Vij joined GAIN India as Country Director in September 2015. Combining 18 years' entrepreneurial experience in the commercial sector with ten years in leadership positions in international development, Tarun brings a unique perspective on challenges and opportunities in developing sustainable solutions when scaling up access and service delivery to under-served communities.
In the past, Tarun has led PATH’s global health portfolio in India with project teams executing projects on vaccines and immunisation, maternal and new-born health and nutrition, tuberculosis control, diarrhoeal disease and more.
Prior to PATH, he served as the Country Director of the America India Foundation, where he led the development and implementation of a strategy to scale up programmes, including interventions in primary and secondary education for children of migrant workers. He also spent three years as Project Director at the Transport Corporation of India (TCI) Foundation, the implementing partner of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's Avahan Initiative to combat HIV/AIDS in India.
