GAIN is proud to join FAO and the UN Food System Coordination Hub to launch the Food Systems Transformation Accelerator during the side event "Food Systems Transformation: How and Why", held on July 29. The session featured opening remarks by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, strong ministerial engagement, and the support of key partners including the World Bank, IFAD and SUN.
The Accelerator is a multi-partner initiative designed to assist up to 50 countries in accelerating food systems transformation by 2030. It will work with governments, businesses, DFIs, and public development banks to build collective capacity, supporting financing efforts, and helping governments drive systemic change for people and planet. In addition to the UN, GIZ, AGRA, Akedemiya2063, and the Netherlands Food Partnership have pledged support to the Accelerator.
We were especially honoured to hear DSG Amina Mohammed highlight the Accelerator in her closing remarks as a project to support moving forward — a real milestone for the Accelerator!
Let’s keep the momentum going for food systems that are healthier, more equitable, and sustainable for all.
