Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zafar, born on December 31, 1965, in Bangladesh is a renowned paediatric surgeon and healthcare administrator. He has been serving as Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Directorate General of Health Services, Bangladesh since October 16, 2024. A graduate of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, he holds MCPS, FCPS, and MS in Pediatric Surgery. He is a member of the 13th BCS batch, he began his career in 1994 and held key academic roles, including Professor and Head at Sir Salimullah Medical College. Dr. Zafar has significantly advanced care for marginalized communities and published extensively in medical journals.
