Md. Abul Bashar Chowdhury is a seasoned development professional with over 18 years of experience in large-scale food fortification, biofortification, food safety and quality, nutrition governance, multisectoral nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific interventions, and climate-smart agriculture. Currently serving as Project Manager, Large Scale Food Fortification Program at GAIN, he has previously worked with CARE Bangladesh, Nutrition International, Bangladesh Ago Processors’ Association (BAPA), and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
He holds a B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering, an M.S. in Food Technology, and two additional master’s degrees in Development Studies and Public Health. Bashar has strong expertise in food fortification systems, biofortified crops, agro SME development, strategic communication, government collaboration, and private sector engagement. He played a pioneering role in conceptualizing and leading the establishment of the Fortification Nutrition Community School and the Centre of Food Fortification, Quality and Safety in Bangladesh, and has provided leadership across multiple projects with a strong focus on staff capacity building.
