Jean Claude Kabano is a distinguished policy specialist in food systems and agricultural transformation across Eastern Africa. He has led high-impact initiatives, including the domestication of the Malabo Declaration through the CAADP agenda in six EAC countries, helping position the region as a top performer in Biennial Review Reports. As Policy Advisor at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), he played a central role in integrating nutrition and food systems into Rwanda’s national planning frameworks (PSTA5). Jean Claude has also directed major policy reforms such as the National Agriculture Policy (2017) and PSTA4 (2018), consistently bridging evidence-based strategy with implementation to drive sustainable, nutrition-sensitive food systems across the continent.
