Impact breakfast: increasing commercial investments for nutrition in frontier markets

Building Bridges Week will foster new conversations and collaborations that will accelerate the finance industry’s contribution to the achievement of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

By convening this exciting week under the theme Building Bridges, Switzerland intends to stimulate effective collaboration and tangible action between a range of actors including the finance industry, governments, business, the United Nations, academia and civil society.

Geneva, with its unique ecosystem, has a special role to play in building these bridges and accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda through increased responsible investment.

The Building Bridges Week aims to create conversations, common understanding, and collaboration between the finance and international development communities. Each event has its own focus, perspective, and viewpoint. They are planned by organisations active in finance and sustainable development. Taken together, these events create a comprehensive picture of what it will take to create grow sustainable finance and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It is in this framework that on Wednesday 9 October, GAIN together with Hivos Impact Investments and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will organise the "Impact breakfast: increasing commercial investments for nutrition in frontier markets".

Poor diets are the number one risk factor for morbidity and mortality globally. Scaling up investments which improve diets will have substantial positive development outcomes. This Impact Breakfast – part of UNDP’s SDG Finance Geneva Summit - will look at two new financing initiatives bridging the gap between investors and agri-food investees.
