Charl joined GAIN as Director of Country Programmes following five years as Associate Director, including one year as Interim Director of Confederation Development at Oxfam International. Charl has extensive strategic leadership experience in business planning and development, strategy development, as well as transformation and change management across country offices in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Charl has led Oxfam’s strategy to become more global through the growth and expansion of Oxfam members in the global South.
He started his career as an urban planner; thereafter he moved in global supply chain management in humanitarian programming. His past experiences also include supply chain transformation and managing the implementation of the Single Management Structure (SMS) programme in 60+ Oxfam countries.
