GAIN/EatSafe Interview Cruncher: Talking Food Safety

Why is food safety been not at the forefront of the public discourse related to public health, international development and nutrition? Please join us for USAID Feed the Future’s EatSafe Interview Cruncher hosted by GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition) examining the important questions of how to close the knowledge gap between food safety and nutrition and how to elevate food safety in global development conversations. This flagship dialogue will be on World Food Safety Day: Monday 7 June 2021.

EatSafe is led by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and funded by USAID. The five-year program gathers consumer and vendor related research and evidence in traditional markets to provide the basis for consumer-driven demand for safe food.

The theme of World Food Safety Day this year is "Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow".

The panel discussion will be moderated by Elaine Ruth Fletcher, Editor-in-Chief of Health Policy Watch and panellists will include:

  • Bonnie McClafferty, Director, Food Safety at GAIN and Chief of Party for USAID’s EatSafe, Washington DC/USA
  • Mohamed Nasser, Regional Advisor Food Safety and Quality Assurance, World Food Programme, Dakar/Senegal
  • Prof. Olugbenga Ben Ogunmoyela, Executive Director, Consumer Advocacy for Food Safety and Nutrition Initiative (CAFSANI), Lagos/Nigeria
