Dr. Supreet Kaur

Senior Policy Advisor


Dr. Supreet Kaur serves in the Program, Policy, and External Relations team at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). A Public Health Nutritionist, she earned her doctorate from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where her research focused on childhood obesity and lifestyle diseases. With more than 20 years of experience in public health nutrition, research, nutrition surveys, and policy development, Dr. Kaur has extensive expertise in large-scale food fortification, maternal and child nutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, and malnutrition.

Before joining GAIN, Dr. Kaur served as a Senior Technical Expert at NITI Aayog, the Government of India's policy think tank, where she played a leading role in monitoring and evaluating the National Nutrition Mission (POSHAN Abhiyaan). She headed the Research and Evidence Cell under the Technical Support Unit, leading secondary research, evidence synthesis, and field studies to inform national nutrition policies and programmes. She also prepared and presented three monitoring and evaluation reports on POSHAN Abhiyaan to the Honorable Prime Minister's Office.

Dr. Kaur has provided technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams working across India's Aspirational Districts, supporting programme implementation through data analysis, monitoring, and strategic recommendations to improve health and nutrition outcomes. She also coordinated the rollout of rice fortification across 14 Aspirational Districts, collaborating closely with national and state ministries on policy approvals, procurement processes, and programme implementation.

Her leadership extends to major national research initiatives, including leading a micronutrient deficiency and malnutrition study among children under five years of age, with findings recognized by the Governments of Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand, and overseeing the implementation of the Comprehensive National Nutrition Survey (CNNS). A respected member of national nutrition technical working groups, Dr. Kaur has consistently provided evidence-based guidance to government and development partners. She has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals and remains committed to advancing evidence-based nutrition policies and improving the health and nutrition of vulnerable populations across India.
