Dr. Mohammad Monirul Hasan

Country Advisor: Foresight for Food Systems, Social Protection, and Environment


Dr. Mohammad Monirul Hasan is a Bangladeshi economist currently serving as Country Advisor at Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). Previously, he worked as Market and Trade Policy Advisor at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Dhaka. 

He was an affiliated researcher at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn, Germany. He was an Assistant Professor of Economics at East West University and an Adjunct Faculty Member of North South University in Dhaka. 

He obtained a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany, in 2017 under the Ph.D. supervision of Prof. Dr. Joachim von Braun. He also earned Master's degrees under the "European Master in Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Policy Analysis (AFEPA)" funded by the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship of the European Union. During this program, he earned a double Master's degree from the University of Bonn, Germany (Food and Resource Economics) and from Corvinus University of Budapest (Rural Development and Agri-business).
