Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, GAIN has offices in countries with high levels of malnutrition: Bangladesh, Benin, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. To support work in those countries, we have representative offices in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Ashek Mahfuz is a professional Food Technologist with over 30 years of experience in food fortification, processing, and human nutrition. He currently serves as Portfolio Lead for Food Fortification and Value Chain at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Bangladesh. Previously, he managed Nutrition International’s Food Fortification Program for more than 12 years.
Ashek has extensive expertise in planning, designing, and managing large-scale nutrition and fortification programs. He was the founding Factory Manager of PRAN, Bangladesh’s largest food processor, and also held leadership roles at Haque Brothers (Industries) Ltd. and USAID’s Agro-based Industries and Technology Development Project (ATDP), where he strengthened government and private sector capacity in agribusiness.
He holds a PhD in Food Technology, a Master’s in Food Technology, and a Bachelor’s in Agricultural Engineering (Food Technology major) from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
