Founder of Aspire Circle, Award-Winning Social Entrepreneur


Amit Bhatia (www.amitb.in), an award-winning social entrepreneur, is Founder of Aspire Circle (since 2007) and Aspire Impact (since 2020), focused on impact measurement and eco-system development. Aspire Impact is Global South’s first standards-based ESG, Sustainability and Impact Measurement & Rating initiative. Aspire Circle is India’s leading non-profit for Impact Fellowships & Thought Leadership.

Formerly, Amit was Inaugural CEO of GSG Impact (formerly, G7’s The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment) from 2017- 2020- an independent multilateral catalyzing impact investment and entrepreneurship to benefit people and the planet. At GSG, Amit broadened the movement from 14 to 32 countries; grew its mandate from impact investment to impact economy; secured G20 recognition (Buenos Aires & Tokyo); deepened thought leadership; and, spurred powerful convenings with GSG Impact Summits in Chicago, Delhi & Buenos Aires, which attracted $1, $2.5 and $9 trillion of global AUM in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. Amit was also Founding CEO of India’s Impact Investors Council (2014-2017) where he built “Brand India” for Impact Investing and grew inbound impact investments from USD 400mn (in 2013) to USD 1.1bn (in 2016).

Amit quit a successful corporate career in 2007 to serve the social sector. He was Founding CEO of WNS Knowledge Services (2003-2007) which listed on NYSE with a $1bn IPO. He was also Founding Country Manager of FreeMarkets, Inc. (1999-2003) where be ushered B2B ecommerce securing 60% market share of e-sourcing with online reverse auctions in India; and, was Founder of McKinsey Knowledge Center (1996-1999), India’s first KPO. Prior to McKinsey, Amit spent time at American Express and in Equity Research (1991-1996).

Amit studied in Delhi- Mount St. Mary’s High School for K-12; Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) for his Bachelor’s; Delhi School of Economics for his Masters’ with a Gold Medal; and, The Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of India (ICMAI). Amit qualified at National Eligibility Test (NET) to teach at SRCC and Venkateshwara College. Certified in Case Method with Harvard’s HBP, Amit has also been Faculty with ICMAI, Institute of Company Secretaries of India and The Aspen Institute.**
