Dr. Anthony Wenndt leads work on social protection and reaching the very poor at GAIN, overseeing efforts to make healthy diets more accessible to consumers experiencing multidimensional poverty and vulnerability. With a background in community-based participatory research and international agricultural development, Anthony's programmatic and policy work on social protection focuses on amplifying the voices of the most vulnerable through rigorous application of human-centered design (HCD), inclusive governance, and co-innovation in social protection systems. Prior to joining GAIN, Anthony worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the Tata-Cornell Institute for Agriculture and Nutrition.
As a researcher, Dr. Wenndt has authored more than 15 peer-reviewed publications spanning topics including global public health, plant health, quantitative genetics, food safety, nutrition, and participatory action research. He holds a BA from Grinnell College and a PhD in Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology from Cornell University.
