World-over, the first week of August is observed as ‘Breastfeeding Week’. This global campaign aims to raise awareness about breastfeeding and its advantages. World Breastfeeding Week, coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), revolves around strengthening the capacity of actors that protect, promote and support breastfeeding across different levels of society.
The triennial International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE-2024), centred on the theme “Transformation Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems” is scheduled from August 2-7, 2024, in New Delhi, India. The conference offers a distinctive platform, providing a golden opportunity for agricultural academic institutions and researchers to convene in person, exchange knowledge, and actively contribute to the global agricultural research community. This International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) flagship conference attracts about a thousand colleagues from around the world.

Africa’s Food Systems Forum- AGRF, is the world’s premier forum for African agriculture and food systems, bringing together stakeholders to take practical actions and share lessons that will move African food systems forward.
The high-level event will bring together UN Member States, UN agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), academic institutions, the private sector, and youth under the theme, ‘Summit of the Future: Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’. The Summit aims to forge a new global consensus on what our future should look like, and what we can do today to secure it.
The world's farmers produce enough food to feed more than the global population yet, hunger persists. Up to 783 million people face hunger due to conflict, repeated weather shocks and economic downturns. This impacts the poor and vulnerable most severely, many of whom are agricultural households, reflecting widening inequalities across and within countries.
The 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP29) will convene in November 2024. The summit is held by the United Nations as a way to bring diplomats, heads of state and climate advocates together to form an international response to climate change. COP29 will be GAIN's fourth COP, and our second as an accredited NGO.
With this Student Challenge, GAIN aims to engage students from diverse backgrounds raising awareness of our work on food, nutrition and food systems.
Through expert sessions, we will deepen the students’ understanding of food systems and the global nutrition situation including the link to climate. The students will get insights into the challenges faced when trying to improve international food systems and nutrition. Coaching will be provided on interdisciplinary teamwork and on how to pitch their solutions to a professional jury.
Built on our efforts at Tokyo N4G, GAIN will try to harness the capacity of the private sector to transform food systems and tackle malnutrition. Businesses large and small are the main drivers behind the action, investment, and financial flows that supply our diets everywhere.
