Dr. Qaiser Munir Pasha, Country Director, Pakistan

Dr Qaiser Pasha is a medical doctor and also holds an MBA with a specialization in Health, Population and Nutrition in Developing Countries. He has over twenty years of experience in the development sector with concentration in strategic planning, aid effectiveness, program management and establishment of public private partnerships in the health and nutrition arena.

Dr Pasha has worked with both international organizations and Government agencies, including The Eastern Mediterranean Regional office of the World Health Organisation (WHO-EMRO), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Department for International Development (DFID) and has a very strong track record of successfully leading and scaling up programs in the health and nutrition. His work on developing strategic planning capacity for health and nutrition, developing leadership skills and improving aid effectiveness in the Eastern Mediterranean Region is well recognized. He recently contributed an expert external reviewer for the WHO national health planning handbook for ‘Strategizing national health in the 21st century” developed by WHO Geneva in October 2016. Prior to joining GAIN and as DFAT Australia’s Senior Health Adviser, Dr Qaiser was instrumental in making a ground breaking investment of AUD39 million for establishment of a multi-sector and multi donor trust fund for improving nutritional outcomes in Pakistan.This fund is managed by the World Bank and has served to leverage substantive additional investments from the Government of Pakistan as well as from DFID. He also and as a consultant working for GAIN/ SUN Business Network, developed the Private Sector Engagement Strategy for Pakistan which is currently being implemented. Dr Qaiser has recently been nominated as a Member of the Board of the Governors of the Health Foundation established by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Pakistan to promote public private partnerships.
