Bold Actions for Food as a Force for Good 2020


Taking place in the context of the UN Food Systems Summit 2021, the fully virtual Bold Actions for Food as a Force for Good summit will convene leaders from governments, business, civil society, international organizations alongside innovators, financiers, experts, scientists, entrepreneurs and youth to initiate and accelerate action for food systems transformation. “This joint-partner organized event is co-led by the World Economic Forum, Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), World Farmers Organization, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Unilever, PepsiCo, Royal DSM, Rabobank, One Young World, Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy, Wageningen University & Research, and the Government of The Netherlands.”

World hunger has been on the rise since 2015 and an estimated 821 million people around the globe suffer from hunger. At the same time, overweight and obesity continue to increase in all regions of the world. What are the actions needed to deliver Zero Hunger and improve levels of nutrition, enabling all people to be well nourished and healthy? This session will address the plan for the progressive realization of the goals of Action Track 1, surfacing new ideas and innovation for action.

The session is led by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) in collaboration with the African Union Commission, 4-H and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
