Investing in nutritious, sustainable foods in emerging markets

This workshop at the EAT Stockholm Food Forum 2019 marks an important milestone in the roadmap towards reframing the dialogue around nutrition and raising the profile of nutrition as an investment theme; an area that will become increasingly important in helping to provide safe and nutritious food for nearly 10 billion people by 2050 within planetary boundaries.
The half-day workshop focuses on businesses and the financial industry as essential players to drive food systems transformation, especially to help improve nutrition in a sustainable and scalable way.

Three sessions will cover:

  1. The main trends in the financial industry that can help direct more investments into sustainable, nutritious foods in emerging markets;
  2. Approaches to financing agri-food small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets, and how innovative investment approaches can help investors balance risk and return despite the challenges; and
  3. The most promising technology and business innovations that will have a material impact on making food systems more sustainable, efficient, and nutritious.

The workshop will be limited to 70 participants to ensure impact and meaningful interactions. These will include high-impact nutrition entrepreneurs working across the value chain, key players in the investment community, private sector leaders providing services to the agribusiness sector, and policy actors from government, civil society and international organisations. The agenda and confirmed speaker list will be sent out soon.
