Integrated Programs
The Integrated Program Strategy represents a new approach that will aggregate different project delivery strategies in five highly populous countries and regions with widespread malnutrition to increase the combined impact and reach of GAIN’s investment in a sustainable way. The overall goal of the program is to reduce the prevalence of vitamin and mineral deficiencies by at least 30 percent and years of life lost to malnutrition by 50 percent.
In the area of mass fortification of staple foods and condiments, the main pillar of the integrated program activities, GAIN will continue to provide funding and assistance to small, large and medium mills or production facilities to fortify staple foods and condiments. The program will also work with industries to produce, distribute and market fortified food products aimed at low-income populations such as complementary foods and foods for people living with infectious diseases. GAIN will support public sector distribution of fortified food products to high risk and vulnerable populations as well (during national emergencies for example).
