The GAIN Business Alliance China is co-chaired by the CEOs of the China Grain Council and Qingdao Biomate Food Stuff Company. The first meeting took place in Beijing in December 2005.

This network focuses on scaling-up successful food fortification initiatives and raising awareness of how to tackle vitamin and mineral deficiencies through corporate action and public-private partnership in China. The forum brings together leading representatives of China’s business community, the scientific community, and representatives from GAIN, UNICEF, and the World Bank Institute.

Priority areas for the GAIN Business Alliance China include:

• Ways to accelerate and scale-up domestic fortification initiatives in China
• Discussions on fortification as a burden or an opportunity
• Fortification as a corporate social responsibility
