A better life for 15 million Afghans

More than half of all children under the age of five in Afghanistan suffer the effects of malnutrition – partially due to a monotonous diet that relies heavily on a limited number of staple foods. A new food fortification partnership in Afghanistan between the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), endorsed by the Afghan Ministry of Public Health and financed by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KBZF), aims to reach 15 million Afghans with more nutritious wheat flour, vegetable oil and ghee in the next five years.
