Public private partnerships: the future of development cooperation

From a nutrition point of view, the private sector is a crucial delivery agent, as most food is grown, processed and sold by businesses. However, nutrition and development often remain on the sidelines instead of core issues for private sector players.

With the theme “Supporting inclusive and sustainable growth for human development”, this year’s EU Development Days, held in Brussels on 16-17 October, explored innovative models and new approaches to public-private collaboration that can help create economic opportunities for the poor. GAIN’s Executive Director Marc Van Ameringen provided valuable perspective on the merits and challenges of public-private partnerships during the high-level panel on Inclusive Business Models.

During the event Devex President Raj Kumar interviewed Marc Van Ameringen on questions such as how to create a value proposition and how to encourage business to commit.
