GAIN receives funding from the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nehayan Foundation to fight malnutrition in Afghanistan

Geneva / Abu Dhabi, 12 July 2009 – The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) has received funding from Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nehayan Foundation to reduce deaths and disabilities associated with nutritional deficiencies in Afghanistan, particularly among women and children. The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nehayan Foundation is based in Abu Dhabi.




GAIN, the Government of the Netherlands, AkzoNobel, DSM, Unilever and Wageningen University launch the Amsterdam Initiative against Malnutrition

Amsterdam, 27 May 2009 – The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) announced today the establishment of the Amsterdam Initiative against Malnutrition (AIM). This Dutch public-private partnership is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Netherlands, Unilever, DSM, AkzoNobel and Wageningen University. Its goal is to eliminate malnutrition for 100 million people in Africa by 2015.




DSM receives the GAIN Business Award for Innovation in Nutrition

Amsterdam, (IBLF/GAIN) 27 May 2009 – DSM will receive the first GAIN Business Award for Innovation in Nutrition 2008 at a special Award Ceremony that will take place today during the GAIN Business Alliance Global Forum in Amsterdam. DSM was recognized on 14 May 2009 for its innovative efforts in rice fortification, called NutriRice®, by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF).

Are States willing to tackle hunger and malnutrition?

Geneva, 4 July 2008 - The member countries of the G8 announced the creation of a working group on the global food crisis. It brings new hope to the 860 million people who suffer from undernutrition in the world. The challenge is huge, especially when a humanitarian crisis is emerging behind the food crisis: the most vulnerable will become starved and malnourished.

Action contre la Faim, Care Franceand GAIN - the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition - therefore call on the G8 member states to launch a global fund to fight hunger and malnutrition.




GAIN Business Award for Innovation in Nutrition invites applications from innovative companies

This GAIN Business Award for Innovation in Nutrition is a new annual Award for companies who apply innovative business models and develop new products and services that help fight malnutrition, improve public health and promote sustainable development.
