August 8 - After two years of operation, the GAIN premix facility continues to reach more and more people, helping to improve the nutritional status of people in developing countries. So far, the GPF has sourced over US$ 13 million worth of vitamin and mineral premix, accross 27 countries.

Request for Expressions of Interest for the supply of micronutrient powder sachets to the GAIN premix facility

Crown Agents on behalf of GAIN – the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (www.gainhealth.org) is seeking to identify suitable manufacturers of micronutrient powders packed in sachets (MNP) for supply fortification projects around the world through the GAIN premix facility.

The GAIN premix facility celebrates its first year of operation

Geneva, 1 July 2010 - It is still early days but the GAIN premix facility has already had a significant impact on improving the nutritional status of people in developing countries. In the first year of operation, the GPF sourced over US$5 million worth in premix orders, across 12 different countries. It is estimated that the food fortified by the premix will be eaten by around 60 million people, who will benefit from certified quality premix at an affordable cost.

Geneva, 18 March 2010 - The GAIN premix facility brochure is now available for download in 7 languages: English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese and Vietnamese.

This reflects the growing and global nature of our customer base, particularly in Africa, Asia and Latin America where we are seeing increasing interest from public and private sector organizations involved in food fortification.

Crown Agents invites Expressions of Interest for suppliers to the GAIN premix facility

Geneva, 15 December 2010 - GAIN in collaboration with their procurement agent, Crown Agents, have invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the supply of straight vitamin and minerals to the GAIN premix facility.

GAIN premix facility starts operations

Geneva, 1 July 2009 – The GAIN premix facility (GPF) starts operations on July 1, providing services related to the procurement and certification of micronutrient premix to food fortification projects around the world. Following a stringent supplier selection process, a pool of GAIN certified premix blenders and vitamin and mineral manufacturers has been selected for inclusion in the GPF. GAIN is collaborating with their procurement agent, Crown Agents, and their certification agent, Intertek, in the GPF.

Crown Agents issues Request for Proposal for suppliers to the GAIN Premix Facility

Geneva, 1 June 2009 – Following submission of Expressions of Interest from 30 interested suppliers, GAIN have issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to a shortlist of 22 suppliers. Some highlights of the Expression of Interest process included:

  • All successful applicants had to provide sufficient evidence of their quality credentials and adherence to good manufacturing practices.
  • 17 on-site audits were conducted by the GPF Certification Agent, Intertek, as part of the Expression of Interest process to validate the quality credentials of potential suppliers.

Geneva, 14th April 2009 – GAIN in collaboration with their procurement agent, Crown Agents, have invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the supply of micronutrient premix and straight vitamin and minerals to the GAIN Premix Facility.


The Expression of Interest was publically advertised in the NutraIngredients industry newsletter and website, as well on the GAIN and Crown Agents website. In addition, GAIN and Crown Agents used their industry knowledge and extensive network to invite potential suppliers to participate in the EOI process.
