A Public Private Partnership against Malnutrition
Despite increasing prosperity and significant development achievements in South Africa since the transition from apartheid, there have been few significant improvement of the nutritional status of South Africa citizens. Malnutrition is one of the biggest contributors to childhood illness and death. Inadequate food intake, illness and psychosocial stress/trauma are the most significant immediate causes of malnutrition. Poverty and lack of resources are basic factors that contribute to malnutrition. Can an integrated effort be made to improve overall nutrition by bringing government, the food industry, and civil society together to tackle it?
