CAIRO OFFICE

Located in Cairo, the GAIN Representative in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) works directly with the UN World Food Programme.

The office is located in the WFP building in a residential area of the city. GAIN staff are considered part of the WFP team - a very multi-cultural and dynamic mix of people.

Current GAIN employees in Cairo include a Regional Manager who is hosted and hired through the UN World Food Programme, as well as a part time consultant for Public Relations (PR) and Business Alliance (BA) activities.

The GAIN MENA office is unique in two ways: our Cairo location is an advantage in terms of proximity to current and potential donors from the UAE and the Gulf countries. Secondly, we enjoy official status as UN staff, providing logistical and administrative support.

Egyptian nationals are a majority in this office: English is the main professional language and Arabic is spoken widely. The working week begins on a Sunday and ends on a Thursday, with office hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (including lunch break). Staff typically leave an hour earlier during Ramadan.
