Assessment criteria


Companies applying for the GAIN Business Award must demonstrate how they have made, and continue to make, a positive contribution to three areas:

  1. Innovation that provides an effective solution to malnutrition
  2. Innovation that impacts positively on improved public health
  3. Innovation that impacts positively on sustainable development

Companies should aim to show how their innovation is working, with measurable outcomes where appropriate, and how it is reaching those at the 'bottom of the pyramid'.
This might include evidence of:

  • Feasibility beyond the R&D stage - demonstrably capable of development and delivery
  • A go-to-market strategy
  • Partnership with other sectors/stakeholders
  • Demonstrable business leadership, financial investment, and institutional commitment
  • Potential for wide-scale coverage, accessibility
  • Evidence of feasibility in terms of long term scalability & sustainability
  • Potential for positive impacts across different spheres – health, social, environmental, and economic.
