The GAIN Business Alliance Africa complements existing GAIN-sponsored national food fortification programs in Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Morocco, South Africa and Zambia, as well as increases fortification investments and new markets in Africa.
The GAIN BA Africa does this by:
- Supporting new financial mechanisms and business models
- Engaging international companies, as well as local millers, food producers and retailers
- Expanding scientific knowledge by bringing together technical expertise in fortification
In addition, the GAIN Business Alliance Africa will also contribute to a Ten Year Strategy For the Reduction of Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies, Ten Year Strategy for Africa being developed in collaboration with the New Partnership for Africa’s Economic Development (NEPAD) and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA).
The GAIN Business Alliance Africa is supported by the Business Action for Africa, an international network comprised of both African and non-African organizations. Approximately 60 of its 110 members are companies, while another 30 are business organizations including CBC and African business organizations.
Participation is open to those committed to Africa and doing business there.
